Seven major issues of finance and contemporary economics: from cryptocurrencies to the financialization of the economic system, from a world without borders to "infinite growth", from the independence of central banks to the end of work thanks to robots, up to the flat tax. Seven dreams, seven "chimeras" imagined and realized by visionary reformists, men and women with the will to change the world. However, dreams often turn into utopia when, in contact with reality, they prove impossible to realize or even harmful.
 
What, then, is the real consistency of these revolutionary ideas that are still struggling to be fully translated into practice?
 
The aim of this meeting is to give participants the opportunity to reflect on the true potential of some of the major macroeconomic issues that have filled the discussions of recent years. To do so they will be able to confront Carlo Cottarelli and the ideas of his latest book "Chimere. Sogni e fallimento dell'economia contemporanea". In particular, we will deepen:

• challenges of contemporary economy, between technocracy, finance, monetary policies and artificial intelligence
• what went wrong between the theoretical dream and the practice
• how to navigate the ongoing global and technological revolutions.
